Pannas & Tulip – An Artist Duo
A deep admiration for each other’s work brought artists Philipp Donald Göbel and Yvette van den Boogaard together in 2021. What began as a creative spark quickly turned into a dynamic collaboration. Initially working on their own, they soon found themselves challenging and playfully provoking one another—testing their artistic instincts and pushing boundaries. What started as a spontaneous exchange evolved into a shared ritual of action and response: a visual conversation where each move shaped the next. Together, they embraced one another’s creativity and methods, merging their distinct styles to create work with a life of its own.
Though their approaches to art differ, their collaboration thrives on contrast and mutual respect.
Yvette brings a bold sense of play to her practice, often with a raw and gritty edge that defies traditional methods. Limited resources taught her to see the potential in what’s been discarded. Found materials become vessels for emotion and story, transformed through context into expressive, sometimes explosive pieces.
Philipp’s work is rooted in a physical dialogue with the material—tearing, folding, bending, crumpling, cutting, constraining, disassembling, and reassembling. His approach opens up new spaces, both literal and conceptual. He confronts the passivity of materials and inherited ideas, honoring the history of art and painting while challenging its conventions. His aim isn’t to destroy tradition, but to twist it—reveal its elasticity and possibility.
In 2023, under the name Pannas & Tulip, the duo stepped into the spotlight to share the results of their collaborative journey—a fusion of tension, play, resistance, and freedom.
